Frame Stage Inspection
Frame Stage is reached once the wall and roof frame has been fully completed. Sometimes on double storey homes, the garage or other lower roof areas do not need to be finished to reach frame stage.
At frame stage, the building surveyor’s inspector must attend to do a check of the house frame, but often pass frames with dozens of defects and incomplete areas. We are often astounded at the number of defects missed by these inspectors

Frequently Asked Questions
We check everything we possibly can at the frame stage inspection, including the concrete slab, any structural steel, wall framing, roof frame/trusses, and anything else that has been completed.
You will need to check your building contract to confirm when “frame stage” is deemed to be completed. Normally, frame stage is complete is when the building surveyor has approved the frame, but the builder is still responsible to address the defects, even after the frame stage payment has been made.
The windows are normally installed at, or soon after frame stage is complete, but they are not required to be installed for your home to reach frame stage. We can do our frame stage inspection with or without the windows installed.
The roof is not part of frame stage, but sometimes our frame stage inspection occurs after the roof is installed. As the roofing is installed on top of the roof frame trusses, we can still complete our frame stage inspection with or without the roofing installed.
